Course description:
In collaboration with ACS, UICC has awarded 15 cancer professionals based in Africa an African Cancer Fellowships award, giving them the opportunity to go abroad for one month fellowship visits to learn skills in cancer care delivery that they will be able to implement and disseminate upon their return home. More details on the awardees their fellowships can be found here. In this dedicated Master course, a selection of experts in cancer care delivery in Africa will talk about the challenges faced and the African cancer fellows themselves will be given the opportunity to present their fellowship experiences and share best practises in cancer care delivery. This course is open to all registered congress participants who would like to learn more about cancer care delivery in Africa.

This course will allow participants to learn more about the challenges faced in cancer care delivery in different African countries, and how international fellowship visits contribute to building capacity through knowledge transfer. It will be a valuable opportunity for course participants to share best practices on cancer care delivery, and to follow online courses on relevant subjects.

Course objectives:
After completion of this course participants will be able to:
1. Forge lasting contacts and collaborative networks with cancer professionals from the region who offer cancer treatment or provide basic support and palliative care services to cancer patients.
2. Better understand how the challenges faced in collecting quality cancer data, providing access to accurate cancer screening and diagnosis and delivery of care can be overcome.

Target audience:
This course is offered exclusively to awardees of UICC's African Cancer Fellowship.

Course leader:
Sally Donaldson, UICC Fellowship Manager
